On a grouper troll, which is what we use them for around here, I put mine on a stout 5' digging stock ( heavy boat rod) and use the Penn 4/0 reel. I have alos found that a braid/spyderwire line helps get the lure down a LOT quicker with less scope and float.

You did not mention fresh water or saltwater? The Stretch 25 is a good presentation for both. In fresh water, I use Ambassador 7000C's, and 7 foot Diawa Sealine rods for Stripers (rockfish). The rods are medium heavy....For saltwater, a whole different scenario. A Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, King Mackerel, or large Albacore, can spool a small reel before you can cut the line. I have two Penn 320GTI's on the same rods, but if I know I am going to encounter a Wahoo or Yellow fin, I go to the Penn International 80 series, both for line capacity, and the drag. Stripers, both in fresh and saltwater do not tend to make blistering first runs, leaving you to wonder if he will ever turn. Hope this helps, and good fishing.........

I like the Pete Maina signature series muskie combo from Bass Pro Shops. There are two rods in this series that are outstanding for trolling, the 8 1/2' and the 9' are both 2 piece rods with a bit of flex in the tip but retain plenty of backbone for pulling hard pulling lures like the stretch 25. The reels that come with the combo are also great and a guy can outfit himself without breaking the bank. For the quality, they are the best deal out there.

I need to purchase some rod and reels. I want the best combo for the best price. I do not want too spend hundreds of dollars on each combo. I need 2 for Red fishing, and 2 for trolling in the ocean for larger fish. What are some inexpensive reliable combos i should purchase
Trolling would be a Penn Senator 113 or 114 or a Shimano TLD combo.Cheap and good for many applications.
For reds are you looking for spinning or baitcasters?
Spinning you could get a Penn 550 ,Daiwa Emcast,Quantum Catalyst,Shimano bait runner combo.
There are too many variables. All of these can be picked up for around 100 per combo. You can go cheaper, just remember you get what you pay for.
